Presidont Yuan Shih Kai has suddenly expressed his disapproval of the movement, while the State Council has refused to receive petitions concerning it. The liewly-founded monarchical paper at Shanghai, the "Asiatic Daily News," was bombed, the explosion injuring seven persons and killing threa, including the bomb-thrower.
