SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS
GIFT OF MACARTHY TRUST. The T. G. Macartliy Board of Trustees has notified the Council of the Victoria University College of the following minute concerning one of its recent meetings:— On the motion of the Bight Hon. tho Prime Minister, seconded by the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke), it was resolved:— 1. That tho Public Trustee allocate a sum of £1000 per year out of income until £10,000 is accumulated. 2. That the fund is intended to be an endowment of Victoria College for the establishment of a Scliool of Economics to bo called The Macartliy School of Economics, but this intention is subject 'to rescission, review, or modification at any time by tho board. 3. That the board may advance £500 out of the £1000 per year to the college authorities for the purpose of paying the salary of the professor of the school, and the balance of the 6um of £1000 shall be accumulated by investment by the Public Trustee to provide the fund. Eacli sum of £500 shall be deemed to be a payment on account of the sum of £10,000._ last evoning tho TJniversitv Council accepted the offer of the Board of Trustees.
