KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

At last night's meeting of the Knrori Borough Council, the Mayor "(Mr. B. G. H. Burn) presided. A letter was received from the Tauiuarunui Patriotic Carnival Committee asking, for the council's support in the movement to secure sanction for all raffles, etc., for patriotic purposes. A resolution carried by the committee was.conveyed in the letter. Councillor Eaine moved that tlio committee bo informed by letter that the council could take no notion in the matter. This was seconded by, Councillor Lower, but, on being put to the vote, the motion was defeated. The Mayor and the majority of the councillors supported the resolution conveyed in the Taumarunut Committee's letter. The fortnightly report of the borough engineer stated that "the. whole of the concrete work ,on Johnston's B-eservoir would be completed to-day. '.
