(There has been: an; increa'so in 'class during the year,, especially, in the St. Jcflm Ambulance, -both .for first.aid and. home nursing. , Social evenings and 'Sunday teas -have been very successful also. ' - Much work »/has been done for the Empire: .Clothing Isent to the British and-Belgian Relief . (Fund, £85 sent .to the 'Y.M.C.A.. for ; their work in camp; and a knitting clnb iformed which has done.: a : great deal of [work, as well as individual service by members. . The association has receivjed a bequest of -£500- from tho estate of of tho lafceMrs. S. A. ..Rhodes, and also £100 from • the i trustees - of. the ■ Macarthy -Estate,' and the association, owes much ofcits success to the generosity of its subscribers; --Tho different activities of the - association in educational, social,. religious,, and other matters presented: excellent, reports. Miss Coneys had. volunteered for war service abroad, and was now working among - the soldiers'in France- There had been an increase- in the . sustaining membership this year, and also in the number of annual subscribers, which materiallyhelped in the expansion of the work. In speaking of the report and bal-ance-sheet, w-hich showed a credit balance of £238. the chairman heartily con-- ; gratulated •' the board and the association upon their excelleiit;'record, excellent iu spite'of the war,' the loss of /.their president Mrs. Webster, who had , 'lef:- to live in Melbourne, their chairman of finance, their house secretary, aud also their general secretary Miss Biich.
