SECONDARY SCHOOLS

, THE STAFFING REGULATIONS. (By Talecraoh—Prea« Association.) Dunedin, September 13. 'At a meeting of the High School's Board of Governors to-day, a communication was received from the rect-or of the Boys' High School suggesting that tbe board should seek some relaxation at least during the,war of the stringent requirements of. recent legislation with regard to staffing of secondary schools (one assistant to, every 25 pupils). Reference was made to the obligations to men 'on active service who- had been granted leave of absence and to the fact that the supply of suitable'candidates must be seriously restricted and a compulsory increase in tlie staff might mean decrease of efficiency, thereby defeating tho object of the regulations. The board decided to communicate with' tho Department on tho subject.
