THE "OTHERS''
The cabled report of the numbers of returning 'soldiers by the Tahiti detailed them, as embracing 27 hospital cases, 59 convalescent, and 405 "others." The "others" are mainly made, up of those who have been injured or" sick and aro now. quite well again (and could - not therefore be classed as convalescents), and a number of men who were found to be not constitutionally, strong enough ! t<r endure the rigours of tho campaign.. War is only for the "fit' 'aid efficient. 'Should a man not come up to the standard of endurance: required he probably hampers t*ie : sections .ho is attached to, and requires special amsidcration that cannot be given him: Frequently; such ; cases are located during the training period at Trontham. Tho hard work finds out a, constitutional weakness -that probably is . never noticed in tho "ordinary, walks of life, arid perhaps is not known to the man himself. Being discovered/it is useless for that' man to persist that he is as Rood ».-> any' other' ordinary man, as they often do. Such men havo got away both with; the' Main Body aiid Reinforcements, but Egypt and Gallipoli found them out, and they : have been returned. Tho honour is theirs, howI over, for -they had the willing spirit if | the flesh happened to be weak. ; '
