THE WEBB-HANNAN RACE. By Telegrapli.—Press Association. Wanganui, September 10. Tho final deposits of £100 per man wero put up to-day for the Webb-Han-nan sculling race, to bo rowed oil Friday, September 24, for £200 a-side and tho championship of New Zealand.
Writing from Papaiti (Wanganui Rivor) on September 7, Hannan said: "Tho weather has not been the beat for training purposes here after the spell of good weather I had in sunny Marlborough. Tho river has beon full of driftwood aftor the floods, and just •as it was getting decently, ylear another fresh eaino down and broug-ht moro driftwood witli_ it. Now I have had moro rain and tho river is up again, and one has to be so careful, as already both of my bouts have been slightly damaged. ,lt is practically fixed that Mr. E. Day will act as judge."
