COUNTI" COUNCIL MEETS. , A meeting of the ' Makara County Council was held yesterday afternoon, Sir. A. J. Taylor presiding. Councillors J. W. Hagerty, J. A. Pyle, H. J. Monagh'an, S. Bryant, and G. Monk, were present. ' 'Messrs. Bowron Bros, were granted permission to erect gates at the KAui iiound and. Sinclair Head, providing the usual legal formalities were complied with. . Mr. A. Monk was appointed roadman for the riding. 1 Amending by-laws were framed providing for tie erection of buildings other than residential, the cost of which shall not exceed £50; also demanding the licensing of boat and bathing sheds in the county riding. It was agreed to support theTaumaninui Patriotic Society's remit in connection with the Gaming and Lotteries Act. .
..Regarding the City Council's decision not to contribute to the maintenance of the Ngahauranga Gorge Road, it was decided to approach the council by deputation with a view to getting tliein to reconsider thedr decision. In . the event of their refusal it was resolved to petition the Governor to apportion the cost of maintaining that portion of the road from tho abbatoirs to the Hutt Road, between Makara County Council and the Wellington.
