RUSSIAN SUCCESSES
A SECOND TARNOPOL GERMANS DEFEATED AT TREMBOVLA LONDON PRESS ON THE GRAND DUKE■ GERMAN ATTACK IN THE ARGONNE PORTION OF FRENCH TRENCH TAKEN', RUMANIA AND; BULGARIA Further successes by tlio Russians are reported in to-day's news. The action at Trembovla (which, is due south of Tarnopol, in Galicia), is stated by Petrograd to liavo alijiost equalled the success at Tarnor pol. Tho Russian successes in Galioia, are causing keen anxiety amongst tho Germans. The Grand Duke Nicholas has left for tho Caucasus, and tho London. newspapers are awaiting developments. They aro candidly puzzled. In the Western front the Germans have • launched an extremely violent attack on the French, line in the Argonne, and tho momentum of the assault carried them to t'he French, first-line trench, a portion of which they managed to hold. There is no news from the Italian frqnt (which has been heavily veiled now.for several days), and very litUo from the Balkans. The Sultan ; is appealing to the "Kaiser for help, and the Turks are anxious about Bulair, which, if taken by the Allies, will completely cut off tho enemy in Gallipoli. Mr. Lloyd George has visited the Trades Union Congress and delivered an earnest appeal to the workers to stand by. their pledge to help tho Government with its work.
