Wedding at Napier. Tlio wedding took place at St. Paul's Church, Napier, on Wednesday of Mr. H. V. Phillips, late master at tlio Napier Boys' School,and Miss J. M. Davidson, youngest daughter of Mrs. M. Davidson,' of Napier. Iho bride woro a goivn of crepe de chine over satin, and carried a shower bouquet of tjhell pink carnations. Miss E. Tliorburn, of Palmerston North, was bridesmaid, and wore a frock of s-ilk voilo over charmeuse, and carried a. bouquet of niauva flowers.' Mr. W. Minty, of ISlsthorpe, was best man, and tlio bride was given away ,by lier brother, Mr. J. Davidson. Tho ceremony was performed b,y the Rev. J. Asher, H.A. The guests were afterwards entertained at the residence of tho bride's mother.

Mrs. Porter, district honorary secretary for tho Women's National Rewyo, wlio has been confined to her house with influenza during tlio past week, is now convalescing. On Monday evening • a meeting was held at Petono for the purpose of forming a Petono branch of the AVomen's National Reserve. The Mayor presided. Owing to illness Dr. Platts-Mills was unable to attend the meeting and give an address, but tho honorary treasurer, Mrs. Hall-Thompson, and the honorary secretary (both of the Wellington branch of the Reserve) spoke in her place and explained tlio objects of tho organisation. It was decided at the meeting to form • tho proposed branch. A committee and secretary were elected, and it is likely that a signalling class will shortly le formed.

Miss Stevenson, who is leaving Feilding with Mr. and Mrs. Biidd, received a gold pendant from St; Paul's Sabbath School teachers, ; / . .

Miss E. Bouskill, of Gray Lynn (Auckland), has arrived in England for the purpose of offering her services to the War Office. Miss AVigett (Greytown) is visiting Wellington. ' ' On July 20, at St. John's Pro-Cathe-dral, Buenos Ayres> Mr. Edwin T. Theobald, of. tho Central Uruguay' Railway, Monte Video, was married to Miss Mary Bullock) youngest- daughter of the late Mr. Alfred Bullock, Christ-church (New Zealand)j and Mrs. Bullock, Richmond, Surrey. . A successful "social" was held at the Lower Hutt Lyceum Hall last evening, under the. auspices of the Hutt Gym n'ast Club. There was a capital attehdance. Mr. G.. Parker acted .as M.C., and the music was supplied by Mrs. Pollock. Mrs. J. D. Cameron (Masterton), who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Thompson, The_ Manse, Uhristchurch, arrived in Wellington yesterday on her return to the Wairarapa. Mrs. B. Bennett, Awahuri, is "visiting Wellington. . . '

fiie Hun's Wife. The separation allowance for a German soldier's wife is 9s. a month from May to October, and "at least 12s. monthly for the rest of the year." The rate for each child or dependent is at least 6s. monthly. A supply of flour, potatoes, and fuel may be issued in lieu of money allowance. Wives of British soldiers got 12s. 6d. a week, ss. for the first child, 3s. Gd. for tho second, and 2s. a week for others. The death is announced, after a sudden illness, of Mrs. Catherine Ann Maysmor, relict of tho late John Maysmor. Tlio late Mra. Maysmor was paying a visit to her sister, Mrs. Brewer, Waitotara, and on Monday suffered a. paralytic, stroke. Tho deceased lady was one of the few remaining early born New Zealanders, being the eldest daughter of tho late Major Durie, of Wanganiii. The late Mrs. Maysmor experienced the vicissitudes of early New Zealand life, and had a fund of information of the early settlers' experiences. Three sons, Messrs. C. L., P. H., aiid A. L. Maysmor, Mrs. Harold Hunter, and Miss Maysmor are left to mourn, her loss. The funeral will take plaoe in Wellington this morning, at 9 a.m., from the Mortuary Chapel, No. 6 Buckle Street. Mi', and Mrs. Sydney Johnston, of Takapau, are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Ken. Williams, of Gisborne, are on a visit to Wellington. The fortnightly evenings of ~ the "Cli&iv ley's Aunt" Social Club have become so popular that arrangements are already being made to have the club rooms in Courtenay Place enlarged. During tho winter months the club has entertained the local "Orphans" and Savage Clubs, who, in their turn, have provided most successful "return programmes." Among those contributing during the winter aro: Miss Hardinge-Maltby, with several bright little' plays and recitations ; Messrs. Allrignt, Ex ton, Cari-j Wood, songs; Mr; T. Carroll and Miss Polly M'Laren, the latter two performing some of their charming dances; Messrs. Luks, Houston, and Crawford, humorous songs; also Master Winston M'Carthy; the Misses Fix, Scott, Aitken, Atapk, and Minifie have contributed recitations and songs; and, Messrs. Norman Aitkin and Phipps Williams ditto/ The club orchestra and Messrs. Connor and Holloway have slipplied excellent instrumental selections.

A very enjoyable and successful evening. which took tlie, form of a euchre party and dance, was given by the Neiv Zealand Natives' Association on "Wednesday, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. About thirty tables were filled: Tho following were the prize-winners: —Ladies: First prize, Mrs. W. H. Smith; sealed prize, Miss W-rigley; consolation prize, Mrs.. M'Lachlan. Gentlemen: First prize, Mr. M'Lachlan; sealed prize, Mrs. Hcmpton; consola-' #011 prize, Mr. C. Cooper. The Hon. 'Mr. Herdmau addressed those present, and eulogised the work which was being done by tho Natives' Association in providing comforts for, and attending to the wants of the returned wounded sol-, diers. After the presentation of prizes, dancing took place. Among i those present were: Mrs. Cooper, wearing dove-grey silk; Mrs. Furness, white embroidered voile; Mrs./ Windsor, shot silk with lace, top; Mrs. Hempton, white broche with embroidered ninon top; Mrs. W; AT.' H. Smith, black velvet; Mrs. Hayworth, cream silk; Mrs. Richards, bream charmeuse; Mrs. M'Vicar, black silk; Mrs. Meiers, brown silk; Mrs.- Morris, pink satiir and shadow lace; Mrs. C. Morris, frhite satin; Miss. Scot, black velvet; Miss Sinclair, white satin.
