Perfect weather again favoured the New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Championship play, of which was held oil- the Basin Reserve - yesterday afternoon. As the Poverty Bay team did not arrivo from the north nntil last night, • their game with Wellington had to bo postponed. It will take place on- Monday next. The two other games plaj;ed were Wairarapa-Canterbury, ill which the former had an easy victory, and Wanganui-Hawke's Bay, in which Hawke's Bay won by 7 goals to 1. Details of the games are as follow:— WAIRAPAPA—CANTERBURY. . W<urarapa- gave an excellent display against Canterbury, and with superior combination -rnd more active and intelligent play easily vanquished the southern team. The score at the call of time was: Wairarapa, 6; Canterbury, 2. Miss Humphries, who played a fine game, . scored' four of the six points', while Misses Knowles and Orr netted the remainder.' Misses' Martin i and Pearce scored for the losers. Messrs. J. 0. Cusack and Loader were the referees.' . , ' ■ .
