The following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Wairarapa Esecu-, tive of tlie~ Farmers' Union:—"Th» tax of 4d. a gallon'on kerosene is not equitable, as it is a tax on lighting in the country as against lighting in the oities, which is not being : taxed: The extra tax on benzine is a tax on. industries, so that a tax on motor-tires would be a fairer, method of taxation." Opinion was ; unanimous' at a meeting of tho Taranald Chamber of Commerce to-nijjht that no duty should have been put oh motor spirits and kerosene, and a resolution ■ was passed protesting against the duties.
