The: was a good attendance, and the totalis, tor handled .614,645, an increaso of .£l2' on last year's liguTcs. • In tho Hack Hurdles, Toreador, wl was a good 6printer on the flat, .was tl first out, and lie led tho whole wa; thougjh .tho favourite, St. Gate, wit liim for ton furlongs. Hero Ruatangai Joined in, but the Auckland horse w< very comfortably, liexcr finished Wei ®"d beat tho_ favourite for third plac uladful and Negativo were prominent b hind the leaders for a mile, but Calais who was expected to show up, jurnpf badly, and lost ground at each fenc I ho winner is by Spalpeen, who has lo several good jumpers, including Spalfis and El Gallo. St. Gate jumped wc throughout, but had no chance over tl concluding stages. Rmatangata ran h usual good race, but could make no in pression on the winner. Hydrus was a great favourite in ti Maiden Plate, ana he won in tho con rnonest of canters, after giving Moutc Queen and Cokely a good start down tl back. The winner is on the small sidi but there is no doubt that ho can galloi Moutoa, Queen and Elying Spur jumpe off in iront, but the -latter was green am was soon sent back, as was his stab! companion, Bronk DeJaval, though th last-named finished very well and g< third place. Cokely, Plying Spur, an Black Ada were tho next to finish. Wa Man was left at tho post. Kaiserine, th Ajnerican-bred mare, finished last. I'll ing Spur, who is a full brother to Glad ole, was the best' looking liorso in th race. Calais, who had started in the Hurdle: waa thfe only defection from tlio ltailwa Handicap. Shaki was tho machine fai ourite, with Crown Pearl and Mia 'Car evenly supported. liYom a good star the last-named shot to the front, wit Peronilla, and led to the' turn, wher Shaki and Crown Pearl were, prominen amongst the others. Ilia Oaracame int the .straight full of running, and ware ing off a strong challenge by Crow Pearl, she won , by three parts of length. Tangiwai was close up, and- the came Shaki, Combustion, 1 and Squar Deal. Crown Pearl's performance wa very creditable, for he was concedin the winner 2st. and in addition gave he ft start of several lengths, down the bad Rufiis monopolised the attention o backers for the Hunt Steeples, but h fialed to do better tha,u finish fourth Banter, who fenced well throughout, wo by several, lengths from Consul, wh plugged along after being tailed off ove the first two miles. When out makiui tho running with Rulus, Lady Renowi came (town, but lier-rider was uninjured W. Adams, who is having a great run o luck both on the flat and. over the fonce, was up on tho winner. Fortify made a one-horse race of th< Marton Handicap. He was a slightl' better favourite than. Red Book, and h' drew tie rails.. To tho surprise of every body lio smartly and was in 6ccon< place behind Glenroy going out of tlii straight. Ho was never further back and on the railway bend he ran up to thi leader, and easily bested him. Bed 800 l was always prominent, and finished third a neck behind Imaiose, who had been ii tho rear over the first part, but finish« •well. Wild Lupin, Master Moutoa, am Glenroy were, tka next to finsh. ' Mum ■uier and Master Lupin ran 1 badly. The Electric Hack Handicap wasagoot race all the way, and resulted in thi finest finish of the meeting. At till start Interlude 6howed out from Coropet Hygia, ajid Sweet Corn. Tiie' I'ordel filly hung out on the turn, and Coropel got up on tho rails. Entering tin straight he ran wide, and Sweet Cori took charge, but at the distange Hygis appeared, as did Mystified, and the paii finished strongly and beat Sweet Corn Coropet was fourth, and' then, came Jeai Laddo and Glissando. The . two lastnamed had been prominent tho whole way. Sweet Corn did not show the pace expected over the first part, and she was lueky to get up on the fence at the turn. Mystified came from a long way back, but the winner was always within striking distance of the.'leaders. I'aTero was a solid favourite ' in the Hack Steeples, but he had no chance with Master Moutoa. The winner jumped well, and considering that' this was his first attempt over country it was.a good one. At; the start Tarero and Agatha Green carried on the running, but the late tired to nothing. Captain Mackay and Meme Lad jumped safely, and completed the course in the places. Tixohango, Tarero, and Atdki fell, and Eatua ran off. When Tirohanga fell his riden (H. Thompson) was underneath, and a bystander, who rushed to his aid, was knocked down by.Galata, and badly shaken. Discussion won the Welter Handicap from Hylatus, who was badly placed over tho first part of the race. Lady Amai and the winner made tho running to the turn from Prince Laddo, but the weight told on the latter. Iceberg was always well up, but Hylatus was tho ualuoky horse of the race. -- ' The results are as under HACK HURDLES. One mile and a half. 2 Toreador; 9st. 131b.; (C.
