CHAFF SPECULATORS HIT HEAVILY.
(Red. September 1, 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, September 1. From Monday the price of milk /will be reduced to 6d. per quart, arid butter by 2d. per lb. Heavy supplies of chaff have- iioiv come forward, soiling at over £3 below the rates fixed by the Commodities Commission. Importers and speculators who bought on the basis of fixed prices are heavy losers. . In order to overcome the pork famine the Commodities Commission is securing Parliamentary sanction to fix the pries of live pigs at a figure corresponding to the price fixed for pork.
