Senator Pearce (Federal Defence Minister) states that the Government is still waiting details for shell-making. The -Munitions Committee had done a great deal 6f organisation and preparatory work, but until the details were complete they could not proceed to their manufacture. Information regarding changes in designs and' methods of manufacture of shells, gained by experience in the field, was still coming to hand, and some of these changes wore of. vital importance.
