THE NATIONAL CABINET
HON. DE. M'NAB BANQUETED. , Hf Telegraph— Press Association. Hastings, August 24. The sympathy and support of the electors of Hawke's Bay with the National Government were made manifest last night; when a banquet was tendered to tho Hon. Dr. M'Nab, 'Minister of Marine, /to mark his inclusion in the Ministry.' Representatives of both political.parties were present to honour the member for Hawke's Bay, and congratiilated him upon his inclusion in.the National Ministry. Among those present were Messrs. -Coates (Kaipara), H. M. Campbell, A'. E. Jull, E. H. Williams (ex-president of the Reform League), and other leading local men. Apologies for absence were received from the Right Hon. W. F. Massey, the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, and every other member, of the National Cabinet. In the course of an. eloquent,' statesmanlike speech, which inspired confidence that the duty of safeguarding the Dominion's interests was in the hands of capable men, '.the Minister stated that there need be 110 fear : of the Ministry not pulling well together/Although they had .been lifeloiig political opponents, frankly, -when the time came for parting the parting would be sad. He expressed the opinion that towards the end of the war the Prime . Minister , and Sir Joseph Ward would be summoned to Westminster to have a voice in the. terms, of peace and that the National Ministry would contimie until their return or until peace was declared.
