EVERYBODY'S THEATRE.
The management of Everybody's Theatre are indeed fortunato in having secured tho new Charles Chaplin film, which' they' are producing this week, 'l'he new film was screened for the first time yesterday with very successful results. It is a real star in the comedy line, entitled ' "His New Profession," and it provokes irresistibly a quarter of an hour of genuine 'laughter. Truly, Charles Chaplin is versatile and original. In this picture he is as quaint and eccentric as ever, and ho is given ample opportunity to display his talents in the infectious farco which _ has been . created. . Jlabel Norniand is in the party which n.akes all the fun, and so also are Roscoe Arbuckle, and Mack Sennett. The "Gaumont Graphic 1 ' is always interesting in theso Btir- ' ring times, and this wesk's is particularly entertaining. One of the items it contains is a picture of President Wilson reviewing the American Fleet.' Among the other supporting pictures is a drama entitled "Who Goes There?" It is comedy of good quality but, as tho title implies, it contains a military element. Other dramas are "Their One Love" and 'Story of a Story." _ "THE MIGHT OP THE ALLIES." , The last nights of tho Wellington season aro announced. No return is possible, nor can the pictures be screened at any other theatre. On Thursday evening next the boys from the Ainokura will bo i present at the Town Hall as the guests uf Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Smith. THE EMPRESS. Charles Chaplin in his side-splitting absurdity "Work," in conjunction with an excellent programme, attracted big crowds to the popular Empress Theatre yesterday. Chaplin in his uttcrably absurd farces is certainly irresistible as a fun and laugh-creator, and it may be said at once that* lie has rarely, if ever, been more successful than in the present film. A strong, well-acted, and capitally-mount-ed drama that found instant appreciation is "The Figure in Black." This intensely dramatic story is capitally reproduced. Yet another popular dramatic offering is "Lola, the Rat," a powerful play from the Vitagraph studios, with popular Maurice Costello figuring prominently. As was predicted, particular interest attached to "With tne Allied Fleets in the Dardanelles.*' Tho film is photographically excellent, and;-'each of its many tplendid sections made a strong appeal upon spectators. The latest Topical Budget is included in the list. THE RED DANDIES. The Eed Dandies, noir dispensing good huxagyr gjgWx $ .tke .C&®]jeU-
of the Town Hall, have entered on their last week. Mr. Claude JDampier is quite irresistible in his quaint drolleries, and when associated with Miss Irene Vera the fun gets furious. Jliss Vore still „ pleases with- her ragtime specialties, more especially in "The Devil's Rag." Miss Mona Thomson sings "If.v Ain Folk" and , "Comin 1 . thro' the Eye," and is always t ' encorcd, as is that fine singer, Mr. Oliver Peacock. Newton and Mr. Harry Borradale supply more humour, *" while the ensemble numbers provoke | much mirth. l "THE FIGHTING FORCES OF I EUROPE." i. The liineniacolonr views of "The Pight!V inj Forces of Europe," which are now r being shown at the Town Hall, are arousd ing a great deal of interest in Wellingn ton. The pictures are an artistic triumph 0 in the reproduction of Nature's colours, if and the subject admirably lends itself to •- this form of presentation. All the great k Powers are shown in their might, while i- one is able to make a comparison with 1 Germany's .crack corps. The stereoscopic effcct, combined with the colouring, makes i- these pictures- more life-like than the or- -,- dinary kinenratograph films. The seae scapes are especially fine. A .full explanatory note is given during ths screening, and Mies Beatrice Day nightly arouses tremendous enthusiasm with her reciting of "Your Country Needs You "
