Hospital Acknowledgments. The Women's Christian Temperance Union (Wellington Central) held' their monthly meeting on Friday afternoon. Mrs. A. R. Atkinson presided. The following resolution was passed: —"That this branch of the W.C.T.U. has heard with pleasure Mr. Massey's assurance that tho Government does not intend to introduco legislation legalising raffles for patriotic or other purposesj and congratulates . the Hon. G. Russell on his action in refusing permits for such raffles." Miss Dorothea Spinney, who had.been invalided for some time with an injured knee, is visiting friends in Pahiatua. Tile engagement is announced of Miss Isabel Cecelia Stevens, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Stevens, Costertown, Rakaia, to Mr. A. W. Beale, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs, W. H.
