On August 5 tho Grand Vizier signed a Note accepting Italy's demands some hours * before tho ultimatum ex-pired. Nevertheless on August 9 tho authorities revoked consent to the departure of Italians - from Asia Min'dr. ' A communique states: "Provoked by tho Ottoman Government's evasions particularly hi regard to tlie free departure of Italians from Asia. Miuop, tlio Government has declared war." ' ' .
