LANDING TROOPS EXTERMINATED
' (Rec. August. 23,11.30 p.m.) Petrograd, August 23. The President, of. the Duma has announced the German naval loss, and the landing at Pernovin, in which four barques of enormous dimensions, orammed with soldiers, wero used. The Russian troops, without the co-opera-tion of the artillery, exterminated the landing troops, and captured the barques. NO AUTHENTIC DETAILS OF THE BATTLE AVAILABLE (Rec. August 23, 11.40 p.m.) - London, August 23. The "Daily Mail's" Petrograd correspondent says that beyond the President's announcement in the Duma, the-re are no authentio details in confirmation of the result of the battle. One report states that a British submarine sank the Moltke, and that the rest may be an exaggeration based on the fact that a number of German destroyers were crippled. The news aroused enthusiasm in Petrograd. The "Daily Chronicle's" correspondent says that the losses are privately reported to have been greater than those officially announced.
