THISTLE 1915 CHAMPIONS. Saturday afternoon saw the final for the 1915 "soccer" championship, aud after a strenuous tussle Thistle managed to defeat Hospital by 3 goals to nil. The score does not indicate the game, and had it not been for exceptionally good' fortune the champions ■would have left the field -winners by one goal only. Both teams went out fully determined to ivin, and the result was that the 400 or 500 people who witnessed the match were treated to one of the best games of football seen in Wellington. Play was willing and fast, ajid there was not a dull moment from start to finish. There were 110 "beg pardons," but the best of spirit prevailed. Both sides must 1m complimented on the combination shown. In fact the various departments worktKl together like clockwork. The filial for the 1915 championship will be known as Gibson's match. Thistle's big centre-forward scored the three goals during the first spell. Two-- of them were.very lucky, but the third was tho result of good combined play on tho part of Thistle's forwards. It was during the second half that the game was most interesting. Both sides wore all out, and attack and defence alternately were the order of the day.
