TRAMWAY APPEAL BOARD

Tho Tramway Appeal Board met yesterday morning to consider tho case of J. K. Jeffrey, an ex-tramway employee, who appealea against his dismissal from tho tramway service. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided, and had associated with liini as assessors Mr. J. It. Palmer and Mr. Whalen, tho latter for the Tramways' Employees' Union. Mr. E. G. Jellicoo appeared for appellant, and Mr. J. J. O'Shea for the Corporation. After hearing the evidenco the'appeal was dismissed by the Magistrate, on the grounds that applicant had not proved that he was a permanent employee. The evidence showed that Jeffrey had been taken on in connection with tho rush of business in 1913, when the centre aisles of the cars were being substituted for the sidesteps.' When this work was completed all the single men were dismissed, appelant among 'them.
