Anti-aircraft guns were brought into action, and it is. believed one Zeppelin was hit; but owing to the ; difficult atmospheric conditions the Zeppelins escaped. Some houses and other buildings, including a church, were damaged. There were killed seven men, two women, and one child. Fifteen men, eighteen women, and three children were injured. The outskirts of London were raided last night by Zeppelins. .Several persons were killed. The damage to property was slight. ZEPPELIN TRESPASSER OVER HOLLAND FIRED ON BY DUTCH TROOPS. Amsterdam, August 18. A Zeppelin appeared above Vlieland, and the Dutch' troops opened gun-fire. The Zeppelin disappeared after cruising over the district for over an. hour. DEATH AGONY OF A NIGHTBIRD LAST OF THE OSTEND ZEPPELIN (Rec. August 19, 11.35 p.m.) London, August 19. The "Daily News" publishes an'' account, of the fate. of. the damaged Zeppelin which raided England on Monday. The story is supplied by an Ostend resident, who, despite the strictest endeavours of the Germans to prevent the leakage of details, •• managed to cross the frontier. "The Zeppelin," lie says,' "fell with a heavy crash into the sea olf Ostond. A tug went to her assistance with all.speed, and towed the disabled nightbird, with her crew, some of whom were injured, to the harbour. "Tile Allied aeroplanes came along, searching for their prey, and dropped projectiles. Despite the fire of tho anti-aircraft guns a loud explosion was heard shortly after, and a tremendous cloud of smoke rose. The Zeppelin was now a mass of twisted aluminium. Many of the soldiers woro injured." . [This Zeppelin was oho of a raiding party wliich visited England on Monday and was badly damaged by a British aeroplane patrol. The Zeppelin managed to reach tho sea oft Ostend, but was pursued, and finally blown up by the bombs of the aeroplanes.]
