Stevenson, of the Ilansaid staff, has received advice that his son (Sergeant J. F. B. Stevonson), whi< ivas selected from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force to join the Imperial Army, has passed his examinations at the training college, ,Egypt»' and has loft there •for Gallipoli, with an Indian regiment ; as a second lieutenant; Lieutenant Stevenson was born in Wellington twenty-one years ago, and was educated at the Terrace School and. Wellington College. He also studied in Victoria College and served articles with Messrs, Izard aaid Weston, solicitors, Wellington. He was with_ that firm _ when he left for the front with tho Main Force. Two members of the Wellington Hospital Board wore absent through sickness from yesterday's meeting of that body. Mr. D. Robertson has been laid up for somo little time, but is now improving, and Mr. C. M. Luke is indisposed. : Mr. W. J. Thompson, of Wellington, has received; a cablegram from Malta, stating that his son, Sergeant H. W. Thompson, of tho Main Expeditionary Force, Who was wounded at the Dardanelles, is progressing satisfactorily. The members of the - Tivoli Follies Company, which has completed -a successful tour of Now Zealand, left for Syduoy en routo to Adelaido by the Manuka last- evening. Mr. C. H. T. Palmer has been appointed District Senior in the Auckland district of the New Zealand Motor Service Corps (motor boat section) with the rank of major. Mr. Alex. Burt lias beea appointed major, and Messrs; 8. H. Leyland, J. F. Howden, •A. A. Brook, and C. J. Ceilings, captains in the same seotion. The Gazette notifies the promotion of Captain J. P. Frongloy, N.Z.M.C., to the temporary rank of Jieutl.-colonel whilst engaged on special duty at the Trentham Camp. Whilst similarly employed Captain H. E. Finch and Captain Sydney Smith are to rank as majors. Drs. W. C. Maclniight, H. Hardwick Smith, and G. B .D. Adams have been appointed captains in tho Medical Corps. Messrs. T. D. Kendall and' Claries Zachariah are gazetted Official Assignees for the districts of Canterbury and Otago respectively. Mr W. Vernon and' Constable James O'Halloran havo becai appointed inspeo* tors of factories. In view- of tho illness of Mr. C. E. Stone, Chief Draughtsman of the City Engineer's Department, Mr. H. Smith, at present draughtsman in the Tramway Department, has been appointed to fill the post, and Mr. D. Richardson, at present assisting in drafting -work in the overhead equipment department, has been transferrin to Mr. Smith's office. Mr. W. Grace, brother of Lieutenant T. M. Grace, of Wellington,, who was reported killed in action, is _ a visitor to Wellington. Mr. Graco is on -tho staff of Messrs. Earlo and Kent; barristers and solicitors, ol Auckland.'.
