Five useful military handbooks have • reached us from the publishers, Messrs. Angus and Robertson, Sydney. The series ' includes "Aiming, Firing, Fire Discipline 1 Training, etc.," by Staff-Sergeant-llajor ' Instructor F. E. Hart, of the School of ' Musketry, Randwick. This compact little book is stated to be strictly; in accordance with the principles laid down in ■ the official Musketry Regulations, and is so complete as to render study of the official text-book unnecessary so far as the subjects dealt with are concerned. Its strong points are that it sets out a definite sequence of instruction and illustrate every position of man and rifle throughout tho course. .The staff of tho School of Musketry wero photographed in over fifty' attitudes, many of which have never been illustrated in any other text-book, and it is safo to say that, tho plates represent the teaching so fully and accurately as to make the text unnecessary except for details which cannot bo shown in a photograph. The "Infantry Pocket Book" compiled by Lieutenant E. Stupart, appears In a fourth edition, enlarged to nearly twico its previous size. Of this book Brigadier Holmes says: "I consider it most complete, comprising ns it does, in a concise form, just the information a young officer or non-commissioned' officer needs to have continually at hand for ready reference. Another edition has also been issued of Lieutenant Stupart's "The New Company Drill Simplified," which simplifies tho study of "Infantry Training, 1914." Tho othor publications are two pamphlets: "Handy Notes on Sequenoo of Musketry Instruction," as taught at School ot Musketry, Kandwick; and a "Musketry Small Book," for recording results obtained in musketry training, second edition Electric fishes, sucli r,s ibe 'electric ell, the African catlisli, and the ciwtrie ray, havo the power of discharging an clectric shock sufficient at times to disable a num.
