PRICE OF BUTTER REDUCED

RETAILED IN AUCKLAND AT Is. sd. (By Teleerftrh.—Press Association.) Auckland, August 18. The wholesale price of factory butter was reduced to-day from Is. sd. to Is. 3d. per lb. This means Is. sd. per lb. retail. It is considered in business circles that prices for butter are still so high in Sydney and Melbourne that if butter could be exported thero prices woiild soon rise again in the local market. At present, however, no butter can be exported without .the express pennission of tho Minister of Customs. It is probable that permission to export may be granted towards the end of the month.
