Semi-official—The Serbian newspaper "Pravda," in a leading article, says: — "The collective action of the Quadruple Entente has been taken with the best intentions for the future welfare of the Balkans, whose peoples can absolutely rely on tho justice and consideration of their friends and allies." GREATER THAN THE CHANCELLERIES ' A VICTORY IN THE DARDANELLES ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) London, August 15. "The Times" correspondent at Paris says: "The news of further successes at the Dardanelles is being awaited with great eagerness. It is felt _ that the Balkan negotiations will be without result -unless the Allies demonstrate by more vigour in the matter of reinforcements and action, not only their determination to force the Dardanelles, but their certainty of success. "Various reports : indicate that the Germans share this view. They are concentrating troops and stores at Temesavar, Neusatz, and the Orsova region, presumably with the object of an offensive against Servia, ana in the hope of arriving to the aid of the Turks before their resistance at the Dardanelles isovercome. "In the circumstances it is felt here that the arguments supplied by the. Allies' troops at tho Dardanelles will have more weight with Bulgaria than those of the Chancelleries." ANXIETY ABOUT BULGARIA TURKEY MUST BE PREPARED TO FACE AN ATTACK. (Rec. August 17,10.10 p.m.) Rome, August 16. Hie Turkish Ambassador has returned to Rome. In conversation with diptomats and journalists he no longer showed his former confidence and serenity. The news from Sofia had caused anxiety. Ho ideclared that he -was still unconvinced that Bulgaria would join the Allies, but Turkey must be prepared for all eventualities, and be ready, if necessary, to face a Bulgarian attack. A DELICATE POSITION. (Rec. August 17, 11.15 p.m.) Rome, August 17. The Bulgarian Ambassador says that Bulgaria has never before been in a situation of greater delicacy, and her decision will not loDg be delayed. : THE KEY TO THE SITUATION. (R«c. August 17,10.10 p.m.) Rome, August 17. Advices from Constantinople state that the "War-to-the-End" Party is in disfavour. It is rumoured that Turkey is only waiting an opportunity to sue for peace, and tlio moment will probably be furnished by the intervention of Bulgaria, against whom Turkey would be unable to conduct a defence owing to the lack of munitions. GREEK POLITICS AND THE WAR A VENEZELIST COUP. Athens, Ausust 16. The session cf the Chamber has open, ed. M. Zavitzarios, a Venezelist, has been elected President, defeating ■ tho Government candidate by 182' votes to 93. . _ CABINET RESIGNS. : (Rec. August 17, 10 p.m.) Athens, August 17.
