Mr. E. Milne, formerly Western District Superintendent of Railways, has been appointed Tramway Commissioner for Sydney, vice Mr. H. Richardson, deceased. •The Rev. P. Tucker and Mrs. Tucker, of Taradale, who left. yesterday morning for Warrington, Ota go, were .met by their parishioners on Monday evening and presented with tokens or esteem, Mr..Tucker receiving an opossum travel-ling-rug, and Tucker' a silver tea service. Mr. Tucker has also been tho recipient of a cheque and a rug from tho Clive Grange parishioners. News lias been received in Wellington that Lieutonant 0. R. F. Johnston, who is serving with the Middlesex Regiment (the "Dieliards") in France, was promoted to a captaincy on, Juno 24 last, the promotion taking effect as from March 20. Captain Johnston ia a.'son of the Hon. 0. J. Johnston. (Speaker of the Legislative Council), and was formerly a member of The Dominion literary staff, subsequently proceeding } to London to engage in literary work. At yesterday's'meeting of the Finance r Committee of the City Council the_T&b 6i(jnation of Mr. E. Beechey, solicitor - and elerk-in-charge of the City Solici- - tor's office, was received. s Prince Ranjitsinhji (the famous crickpter, and now one of the native ruling t princes in India) has been. appointed one of Sir John French's aide-de-oamps. —Press Association. Mr. Roland Btavcly, last here as manager of tho Plimmer-Hall patriotic tour, will arrive this morning by the Maori, from Dunedin. He now has control of the kineniacolor picture, "With the Fighting Forcos of Europe." Mv. James Shaldrick, manager of the Nortern ,Steamship Company at Onehimca. is visiting Wellington, and is staying a,t the Empire Hotel. I A mistake in the address of the lata I Colonel W. G. Malone's widow appeared in last week's issue. Mrs. Malone went to England in April, and her present address is '25 KidraoTO Road, Caversham, Reading, Berks.
