Public Trustee; acting as Sinking •Fund Commissioner, in connection with the £25,000 loan; The Minister of Bailways acknowledged copy of 'resolution passed at a conference of Hutt Valley local bodies, and advised that the representations .would' receive consideration. : ■ • . The Prime Minister /the Hon. W. F. Massey) advised that the matter of vesting in the Petone Council that portion of , the Normandale : settlement forming part , of the catchment area of the Petono water supply, had been submitted to the ' responsible officers for a report. The General Manager, New Zealand Railways, stated that He consider : there was any necessity' for providing additional means of access to the platform at Petone. •: After discussing this matter tho council appointed the Mayor and Councillor Forsyth to arrange a deputation to wait upon the General Manager! v The Mayor outlined the proposal of the Hutt River Board, :to increase its boundaries,- which embraced a '..large amount of Petone, and it was decided 'that the council lodge -a petition against the proposal. Councillor M'Kenzie moved pursuant to notice "that half-pay be allowed to permanent council employees who. have of may enlist, with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces." Aftor a lengthy' 1 discussion the motion was held 1 over for . future -consideration, and the council decided that in respect to any of its • ; men (whether married or single) volunteering, their dependents would ho looked after. • ' The engineer's report stated tnat building permits to the total value. of £660 had ."been issued, the total value for the year-, being, £9661. The sewage engineer s report stated that the total cost of the work to. date was £40,831 Bs. 7d. Tho gas manager's report Was also received. •
