4 THE "COMMERCIAL AY Alt. A proposal to hold a patriotic exhibition of British v. Enemy Goods is now before the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce. 'I'ho intention is to hold the exhibition ill February, 1916, tlm delay being duo to the necessity under which many exhibitors will bo of importing special samples. Mr. L. Ashcroft Edwards, chairman of tho committee of the chamber set np to formulate a scheme, reported to the Council of the Chamber at the meeting yesterday. Hi! said that tho committee recommended that the exhibition bo held in tho Tcwn Hall, Wellington, for a period of one week. Tho object, he said, was to wage a commercial war against our present enemy's goods. A comprehensive report dealing with tlio proposal in all its aspects was submitted, and the details were fully discussed. Mr. H. G. Hill, who seconded tho proposal for the adoption of the report, complimented. tho committee on the work already done. He suggested that the committee bo given power to act in all matters not relating directly to finance. Mr. A. Leigh Hunt said he thought it desirable that a general meeting of members should be called to interest members in the project The special committee already set up temporarily was appointed permanently, with power to add to its number, and with power to act on all matters not pertaining to finance. The members of the committee are: Messrs. Edwards, Atkins, Smith, Winder, and Eeid. Messrs. Edwards and Atkins were appointed managers. It was' resolved to ask the City Council for the free use of tho' Town Hall.
