TEPID SWIMMING BATH

CHARGES FOR. BOYS' INSTITUTE BATH. Many inquiries aro being made as_to the charges to the public for admission to the tepid swimming batli being built by the Wellington Boys' Institute. The committee has now drawn up a tariff which- 011 account of its reasonableness will • doubtless appeal ;to all bathers. When the City Council-gave the institute the free uso of water during the winter months for the bath it stipulated that the charges to the public must not exceed those of _ the municipal baths of Christchurch, viz., 6d. a bath. The institute committee, -however, has provided for-a cheaper rate of admission, and has arranged that tho public will havo the use of tho bath every day of tho weok. For a single bath 4d. will be charged to adults and 2d. for youths and maidens. Season tickets will be sold for one guinea for men and 12s. 6d. per annum for women and youths. If used eveiy day throughout the year the cost per bath to men will be three-farth-ings, aud to women, less than one halfpenny. These prices are considerably lower than those prevailing in England, should ensure a largo sale. Special provision is being made for sohool children, full particulars of which will be announced next week. The contractor, Mr. A. E. Hurrel, is pushing on with the work, and hopes to have the building completed by • tho end of- next month. He is' now waiting the arrival of pressure filters for cleansing the water from all impurities before it enters the bath. It is hoped by this means to make' the. wator clear and crystal like, getting rid of all tho vegetable matter held in solution, which imparts-such an unpleasant colour to the Wellington water, as seen in tho reservoirs.-
