YEAR'S NET PROFITS. By Telesraph.—Press Association. Christohuroh, August 13. ! A special general meoting of members of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held this afternoon to consider the question of giving the whole of the not profit of the club for the financial year ending April 30, 1916, to a fund or funds connected with tli9 war. Mr. W. F. M. Buckley, president of the club, was in the chair, and there was a very largo and representative attendance of members.- Trie president formally moved a motion to contribute the whole of the profits of the club for the year to a fund or funds connected with tho war. Mr. F. A. Pyuo, in seconding the motion, said he was delighted to see the laTge attendance there that day. He hoped that there would be a unanimous vote oil tho question at issue. In England racing had heen practically stopped; but he did not advocate that here, as it would be disastrous to many employed wlio could not do anything elso. If thoy gave all their profits to a war fund it would be a popular action, and would cut tho ground from under a large section of the communitv who thought that all racing should bo stopped. The average profits of the club for the last eight years had been approximately £4000 per year, and there was a fair reason to suppose that a sum approximating to that could be donated. The motion was carried unanimously. Ilr. C. lieid moved that in any case a minimum sum of £2000 be guaranteed to tho war funds. This also was carried. _______
