WELL-KNOWN MASON KILLED
VICTIM OF.'A' MOTOR COLLISION.' (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstchuroh, August 13. Wliilo proceeding to business this morning Mr. F. C, Binns, of the firm of Wriggleswortli and Binns, was the viotim of a collision, whioh ocouiTed between a motor-car and. a _ motor-cyclo with side-chair _ attached, _ in Victoria Street. Mr. Binns, who is 71 years of age, was by some means knocked over by one of 'the vehicles and sustained severe injuries which necessitated his immidiate removal to the Christcmirch Hospital where he expired as the result of the injuries he sustained. The late F. 0. Binns was a partner in the well-known photographic business of Wringleswortli and Bums. He was born in London, whore be was brought'up as a civil engineer, but devoted much of his leisure time to amateur photography, find shortly after his arrival in AVellinrton in 1864 ho became associated with Mr. Wriggleswortli, and' establis'hed .tho, partnership. which has continued ever since. Mr. Binns was one of tho most prominent Freemasons in Nqw Zeakud; he was initiated in 1873 in the Pacific Lodge, Wellington, and was Master of the Lodgo in 1878 and 1880. Subsequently he became the Z.V. in tho Royal Arch Chapter, was twice Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodgo of Wellington (English Constitution), and for ■ a timo was • also treasurer. With the Pacific Lodgo lie came over to the New Zealand Constitution, and later on, on coming to Christcliurch lie affiliated with St. Augustine Lodge. He was installed as Grand Superintendent of Canterbury in 1902, and on tho inauguration of tho Provincial Grand Lodge, Grand Master, an office whidh ho 'held till his dentil. Ho was a foundation member of the Civic Lodge. Mr. Bhm was also Grand Master (honoris causa) of Grand Lodgo of Now Zealand in 1911, and bo was also Pro-Grand Master in 1906-08. Tho funeral of the late F. C. Binns, Provincial Grand Master of Canterbury, will take place on Monday at,2.30 p.m.
