Tlio "Times'* correspondent in Paris says that from all sides come reports of increased pacific action by the neutral States and by pacifist internationalist bodies, but the French people Bunply, turn a. deaf ear. Tho "Times" correspondent at Washington says that the German peace talk has not been particularly successful except in obvious quarters. Tho Hearst journals publish a flamboyant artiole, advocating neutral mediation. Tho "Staats-Zeitung" says that Germany does not desire conquest. The' Angiophobe Washingon "Post" swallows the German bait, but the responsible Press scouts the idea of a premature peace, and gives cogent reasons wliy separate peace is unthinkable. MR. Mr. John Redmond (tho Irish Nationalist Leader), replying to Bishop O'Dwyer (Limerick), said that lie would not be justified in asking the Government to enter into peace negotiations when tho Germans, who were the aggressors. had not shown any disposition to ■ repair the wrongs they had inflicted upon Belgium and the other Allies.
