PRAYER.

Sir, —'At last, after a whole year of fighting and strenuous effort, a day has been set apart for prayer and intercession. Surely as a Christian people we are not making the best use of our privileges. Weeks of-carnival, and one day of prayer. It speaks for itself. As a people, wo have noglected prayer, giving ourselves up to amusement and monoy-making, even on the Sabbath Day. We need to say, in the words of that beautiful prayer, many are repeating every day: "Teach us all wherein wo have transgressed. Thy holy. law. Pour out upon the world the spirit of penitence," and until this spirit permeates the nation, I fear we shall look in vain for victory. This God to whom we wo ild pray is the same as He Who led the Israelites to victory so long as they trusted in Him. While His presence was with them, in a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, He never failed them. Let us as a united people fall on our knees and pray as never before, for His help and guidance. Think how it will hearten our brave boys to know we are helping them in this way, for they, in daily and hourly peril of their lives, see with clearer vision tho value of prayer. May God bless them all, and l lead them to victory, and teach us how to pray.—l am, etc., A' TROOPER'S MOTHER.
