ARBITRATION COURT
BLENHEIM CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, August 13. The Arbitration Court sat at Blenheim to-day. Tho Marlborough farm and station employees asked for an award 'with the Sheep Owners' Union and others. Mr, J', 'lownshend appeared for tho workers, and Mr. D. Jones (Christchurch) for tho employers. The union asked that in view of the war the dispute be adjourned to a date to be fixed by tho Court. Mr. Jones asked that the application for an award be dismissed in accordance with the precedent established by JudgoSim. After considerable discussion tho president 'announced that tho case would bo adjourned sine dio, and not bo set down again without the leave of tho Court. His Honour did not think the employers' caso would be prejudiced by the adjournment as asked by tho union, and pointed out that such a course would-save tho expenso of a fresh citation later on. ' .
L. Home was allowed damages £120, costs, and. disbursements against the Marlborough A. and P. Association as compensation for injuries sustained by au accident' on the show grounds in Novomber, 1911, when ho lost, an arm. In accordance witli the agreement arrived at in the Nelson carpenters' and joiners' dispute, an award was made which will come into operation at au oarly date.
In tho case of the Marlborough shed hands dispute an agreement was reported, and an award : made to operate from August 1.
