WELLINGTON HARMONIC SOCIETY

—'■ « The annual meeting of the Wellington Harmonio Society was held on Wednesday : evening, when Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., president, presided over an attendance of about GO members. Tho roport and balance-sheet showed the society to bo in a flourishing condition. A credit balance of some £29 on the year's work was reported. Tho membership has grown so rapidly that the committee has decided to limit the numbers,only admitting now members as vacancies occur. The subscription for active members was reduced to 10s. per annum and ss. per annum for ladies. Tho honorary member's subscription remains at 10s. 6d. per annum. Tlie election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mr.. R. A. Wright, M.P.; vice-presidents, tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), tho Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C., tho Rev. R. 11. Hobday, M.A., the.Rot. J. H. White, Mr; H Allen, Mr A. G. Glerniy, Mr. P. S. Pope, Mr. S. Stockbridge; conductor, Mr. H. Temple White; lion, deputy conductor, Mr. Cameron; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Blake; hon. corresponding secretary, Mr. G. N. Evans; hon. pianist, Miss D. Johnston; hon. librarian, Mr. A. Paterson; hon. stage managor, Mr. V. R. Bennett; hon. auditor, Miss B. Stewart; committee, Mesdames Brewer and Johnston, with tho above officers ex officio. 'During ,the evening .a presentation was made by tho president to the lion, secretary in recognition of tho splendid work he has dono during the year.
