AFTER THE WAR
THE FUTURE OF SOLDIERS. The Government is making preparation in advance for the return of wounded and partially disabled soldiers from the front. It is the intention that to one Minister shall be allotted the duty of making provision for the future of these men, and definite proposals on the point have been submitted, to Cabinet by the Prime Minister. "Wo propose," said Mr. Massey, referring to tlio subject yesterday, "to givo one Minister charge of the returning soldiers, to see that everything will bo done for them in providing them with employment, getting them on to the land, or, ill the case of disabled men, arranging for instruction to be given them by which it will he possible for them to do something in the way of supplementing the military pensions provided by the State." Mr. Massey said that lie was not in a position to say what was being done in this direction in other countries, but he felt sure that in New Zealand wo were proceeding along the right lines.
