THE GALL FOR DOCTORS
NEED FOR ORGANISATION. The Minister for Defenco was asked yesterday whether, anything is being {lone in the direction of organising the medical profession in New Zealand to meet tiro demands likely to bo made upon it by the large number of returning sick and wounded soldiers, and for other war purposes. . "Some negotiations aro going on with ® Iji'Uisli Medical Association," said ;Jr. Allen, "but I do not yet know tho result. Of course we have our own limitary organisation, and wo shall ho glad if any medical men who do not belong,to the New Fealand Army Medical Service will join. If they do so, they cannot be ordered abroad, but we can use them in New Zealand, and they will coitio under our financial regulations in regard t-o pay. "It will probably becomo necessary ror us to organise tho medical services throughout the countiy," added the Minister. ''In calling upon doctors we snail ot course consider their convenience, and that of their patients as far as possible. Wo must see that tho ordinary needs of all districts, especially the country districts are not left unprovided for. That is a matter that is being settled by the Director of Medical Hospitals and tho Public Health Denartment. It is probably a matter that Mr. Russell, the new Minister for Public Health, will deal with. The military part of it, of course, will be dealt with ny .Surgeon-General Henderson when hearrives."
