HON. W. D. S. MACDONALD COMPLIMENTED. (By Telegraph —Vn''''" Hokltlka, August 11. At the Westlaud Count}' Council' V meeting, it was resolved to oompliment tho Hon. ;W. D. S. Mac Donald on his appointment ,tt> the Mines portfolio, and express'satisfaction that the separation cf the Mjries and Public Works Departments would lead to the early, appointment of. a separate Under-Secretary for 5 Mines, .in order that the mining indus-. ; try might receive mora control. It was also resolved to extend an invitation to Mr: Mac Dona Id to pay an early visit to; the Coast to learn personally the requireiVients of the industry; and. hear suggestions for the promotion and development of gold mining.
