CAPTAIN FRANDI'S DEATH
TRIBUTE BY GENERAL UODIjEI'.. 'A fine tribute to tho soldierly qualities of the late Captain Frandi, and the story of how he died, are given by Ma'ior-General Sir Alex. Godley, officer commanding tho. New Zealand Expeditionary Force in tho Dardanelles, in a letter which ho has written to Colonel G. F. C. Campbell, Officer Commanding the Wellington Coast Defence Forces. "I write to you in your capacity as commander of the Wellington Garrison to ask you to mako public tho enclosed ■ details of poor Frandi's death," says General 'Godley. "He did so much good servico in Wellington • that it should „be known how well ho did on active service, and not only how gallantly he died, but also the esteem and confidence ho earned during the short time lie. was with us.'
"Ho was killed at Cape Helles on Saturday, May 8, during au attack oil tlie Turidsli position. Ho went forward in command of tlio firing line of Ins company. His company all say that tlioy have never known any officer who gained so rapidly the confidence and liking of the men under 111111 and his bravery and fearlessness, and qualities of leadership were most conspicuous."
