la the Jumpers' Plat Handicap Sir Donald lias good public and private form to recommend him.. Ho has been galloping well on ,the tracks sinco his arrival at Riccarton. Sam Pan's victory in the big handicap nt Pahiatua recently will cause him to bo well supported. The editor of the Melbourne "Sporting Judge" ,lias promised that sportsmen throughout Victoria will suitably recognise the bravery and heroism of Lieut. Barker should ho roturn safely to Mel-' bourne from the Dardanelles. Mr. Barter is a son of Mr. Arthur Barker, a well-known member of the outside betting ring at Melbourne racecourses, and had difficulty in getting through the recruiting stage oil account of the fact that ho is a "bantam. ' Ho became a lancecorporal, and a, very early hour on the morning of the memorable landing, found liis commanding officer killed, and the gunners round him dead or wounded.
