HOW THE GERMANS ENTERED WARSAW
EVACUATION AS SEEN BY GERMAN CORRESPONDENTS. By Telegraph—Wcss Association-Copyright (Rec. August 9, 10.50 p.m.) Amsterdam, August 9. The correspondents of the Berlin papers, describing tho evacuation of Warsaw, say that for two days the German guus bombarded the fortifications. Tho bombardment grew more intense on Wednesday night, the wliole of the army's field artillery participating. Tho Russians failed to stem the advance, and at midnight evacuated the outermost fortress.
The Wurtemburgers, Saxons, and Prussians attacked tho eight other fortresses, rushing across tlio soaked trenches. There was a violent strugglo along tho entire front, and the Russians gradually fell back on Praga. Warsaw suffered little from tho bombardment. Tlio first general to enter was immediately appointed Governor. EXECUTIONS DAILY. (Rec. August 10, 0.5 a.m.) London, August 9. Tlio "Berliner Tagoblatt" states that when the'main flight from Warsaw ended a ghastly silence reigned, broken only by the thunder of camion. Many of t'ho streets wero barricaded, only tlio Red Cross Sisters and members of the Civil Guard being seen, while above was tho steady hum of tlio Gorman aeroplanes. The fire brigade was hurrying to every quarter extinguishing fires. Executions wero daily conducted ill tho citadel, 1 and death sentences wero placarded wholesale. The mob plundered empty houses and factories. Tho sccret police was busy at every corner, and thousands of wagons pilpd with wounded, whose groans were awful, quitted the city. Tho terror of the •.light was heightened by the bursting of star shells.
