We succeeded, and the damage was restricted. AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. Amsterdam, 'August 7, 'An Austrian-communique states: —"Several Italian batteries, after heavy artillery fire, advanced east of Polazzo and Redipulgia, but after a short engagement the enemy's advance ceased. (Rec. 'August 9, 10.20 p.m.) "We repulsed Italian attacks on Polazzo and Vermigliano. The enemy on August 6 and 7 advanced in the Tyrol across I'orcellin-a and Dimontozzo/ but retreated under the fire of our artillery." ■ PREPARING FOR THE FALL OF CORIZIA. (Rec. August 9, 10.20 p.m.) Milan, 'August 9. Tho Austrians are preparing for tho fall of Gorizia. The citizens are suffering from a scarcity of food. ITALIAN BOMBARDMENT OF ROVERETO. (Rec. August 9, 10.50 p.m.) , Zurioh, August 9. Tho Italians are bombarding Roverto station. The damage is severe. One shell destroyed the Hall of Justice.
