POLICE RAID
ON (ALLEGED SLY GROG-SHOP. At about 5 o'clock yesterday evening a raid was mado on an alleged sly grogshop in Alpha Street by Sergeants Kelly, Fitupatrick, and Murphy, and Constables M'Kelvie, Heilgenian, and Goldie. As a result of the unannounced visit a, man was apprehended on a charge of selling liquor without a license, while a quantity of liquor and a collection of "empties" aro also alleged .to have been seized. ' ' Another man was also arrested yesterday on a similar charge, although ho is not alleged to liavo boon in partner-' ship with -the party concerncd in tho caso mentioned above. His ocoupation is slated to have been what.is known professionally as a' "lighthouse," or a person who acts the part of agent in looking for thirsty people.
