The Dutch newspaper "Telegraaf" says that there is news from Courtrai of heavy fighting on the Ypres front. The thunder of the heavy guns and the detonations •of mines have been audible for hours. A long stream of wounded is moving from Hoogo to C-ourtrai. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. . 'The High Commissioner reports:— London, August 3, 4.55 p.m. "In the Vosges on Monday' evening there was a violent attack on the French positions at Linge. .Three attacks at Barrerikopf were repulsed." FRENCH OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. _ • Paris, August 3. A communique states: "There was a lively night of fighting with grenades and petards near Souchez, and violent artillery engagements in the Aisne Valley. Soissons. was bombarded. There were several German night attacks on Hill 213, in the Marie Thereso-Saint Hubert sector. The enemy was unable to debouch, .Wo repulsed yesterday several attacks against Linge and Barrenkopf." GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. - . Amsterdam, August 3. A German .communique, states: "We still retain the English positions at Hooge. < "We captured some trenches at Four de Paris; and lost a small portion of a trench at Schratz-Meuelle; . "We caught, north-west of Etain, a French captive balloon, which had been torn from its anchorage in a gale."
