. . ———«— Th'e_ half-yearly meeting of tlie Typographical Uniou was held on Saturday.' •It was decided to affiliate with the "Workers' Educational Association, and Mr. It. H. Stickney was appointed the union's representative. During the progress of the meeting Mr. James Harper was presented: with a. gold trad© emblem as a recognition of his services as secretary to the recent Printing Trades] Conference. The -presentation was made by Mr. J. W. F. M'Dougall, president of the New Zealand Federated Typographical Association, on behalf of the Now Zealand Letterpress Machinists' Association and the former association. Mr. M'Dougall, ill the course of his remarks, testified to tho untiring, earnest, and satisfactory work performed by Mr. Harper in the preparatory conference, and final work of the conference. ; Messrs. H. R. Hustler and J. O'Connor were present as representatives of tho Letterpress Machinists' Association, and apologies for non-attendance were received from the president and secretary of the Wellington Bookbinders'Union. Mr. Harper, ill thanking the donors for their' appreciative present, said his work bad been a labour of love, and that he had never looked for any reward.'
