FIRE AT A HOSPITAL

TWO ROOMS GUTTED. (By Toleiraph.—Fres» Association.) , Masterton, August 2. Ths kitchen and drying-room of the Masterton Public Hospital were gutted by fire this morning. Only by the vigorous efforts of the fire brigade was the main building saved. The patients were taken out o.i to the verandah, but there was 110 _ panic or unnecessary alarm. The buildings arc insured in the State office for £6500, and tbo portion destroyed in the same office for £1800. The damage is estimated at between .£SOO and £1000.

As will be observed from a notice in another column, B Company (Wellington East), Ist R-egiment, is to assemble in Bunny Street, north side of Government Buildings, at G. 45 p.m. oa Wednesday, to march to the Town Hall, to take part in the Declpation Day proceedings.
