. The present- position in regard to tha supply of ships for the export'of frozen meat is described.by the Prime Minister as very satisfactory.' "Eight ste.amers,"' he said yesterday, "are loading in the Dominion 1 at present, tnro (the Tainui and WTiakatano) are expected to arrive to-morrow, whilst the Makarini is expected to arrive on Tuesday, and the Waimato on Wednesday; Ten more ships are duo to arrive, before the end of August, and somo of. these will load in August and some in September. There will be eleven ships capable of lifting 1,060,000 carcasses for loading in October." Tlie total number' of ships which havo been loading during July, added to those to load during August, September, and October, have a lifting capacity of over three million carcasses. The quantity of meat in store ; on July 1 was about two million carcasses. Mr. Massey states that bo considers that practically all arrears will bo worked off by the end of October. ' .
