In their annual report the directors of the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company (White Star Line) ea.y that they have decided to alter the chaxaoter of a liner of 33,000 tons which was building for them in order thait she may replace tho Oceanic, lost oft' tho Shetlands in September. Th© new vessel is to be called the Homeric instead of the Germanic, which was the original intention.. HUDDART-PARKBR'S NEW STEAMER. Huddart-Parker's new stoamor Goulburn is described as being a handsome vessel, and gives the impression that she-is, eminently suitable for tho.business she is intended for. She was built at Sunderland by George Clark, Ltd., and is 2362 tons gross and 1412 tons net register. A notable feature is the eliptical stern, and she has a straight, stem and driven by ,triple-expa-nsioni engines. FROM NEW YORK. Arrangements -have been made to dispatoh the steamer Aeon, now en route to America from Australia, from New York about August 18 for Lyttelton. As the Union Co.'s Maori is to be docked for cleaning and painting at Lyttelton tomorrow, no cargo will be received at Wellington for tho southern ■ port by the'vessel to-ilay. Tho. American schooner Golden Shore has arrived at Lyttelton after a passage of 58 days from Gray's Harbour. She brought down a full load of timber. Owing to the schooner Eliza. Firth, having become a total wreck at Kaipara, it is understood that her owner has purchased the well-known schooner Amelia. Sims. The latter vessel traded Xor many years under tho late Captain J. Johnston, between the Sounds and Lyttelton, but was subsequently purchased by a North firm, who installed a set of oil engines and also renamed her Elsie Mary. The Elsie Mary is credited with several good performances, and she will run between I/yttclton and Kaipara.
